Jay Guney had spent years building his career in recruitment, most recently at director level. He had the experience, the market knowledge, and the drive to go independent – but he’d been away from the coalface long enough that rebuilding his billing activity from scratch was going to be harder than it looked. He needed capital, infrastructure, and someone in his corner who’d done it before. That’s what Monatude provided.
We Are Dcoded launched as a B Corp, with the full operational infrastructure in place from day one. CRM, telephony, compliance, finance and branding were all live before the business even opened its doors.
Jay made his first internal hire within two months of launch and completed his first placement inside two weeks of trading, generating a first fee of £16,500.
The business hosted its first community event, co-branded with OnTheBeach, and established a contractor book that covered its total operating costs. We Are Dcoded was profitable and debt-free within its first 12 months, landed its first six-figure fee, and found time to give back - donating recycled laptops and funding 100 meals for the homeless.
We Are Dcoded now has five employees and is still growing, having expanded its offices and secured multiple exclusive and PSL agreements. US launch planning is underway. Jay retains full commercial and operational control, with ongoing weekly support from Monatude - and the partnership now extends to an annual founder strategy summit, most recently held in Ibiza.
The investment gave me the platform to accelerate growth, but what set it apart was the ongoing support. Having someone available who'd actually built something before - that made the difference in the early months.
